Aside from dust and particles that cause allergies or respiratory issues, other harmful or bothersome components may be present in the air you breathe. Some filters are better than others at removing dust and pollen, but how many conventional filters are capable of removing toxic gases and odors?
If most air filters fail to remove odors and other toxic chemicals, and none of them give you feedback to know when they are working, what options are you left with?
At Serionix we have worked hard to create a product that solves these two challenges: first, our technology adds a functional coating to the surface of conventional air filters, allowing them to remove toxic chemicals and odors in addition to dust and pollen; second, the coated filters change color to indicate when they are saturated, eliminating the ambiguity associated with replacement.
As an example, our filters have helped our customers remove pet odors and related chemicals from their homes. Ammonia is one of the troublesome odor components that emanates from cat urine, and which also happens to be harmful to your health. Although the level of ammonia coming from cat urine is typically small, elongated exposure to an unkept litter box can create health issues. Serionix filters have also been shown effective at removing other odors such as cooking and mildew odors during our initial product testing.
Our filters may also be applicable to NASA. Astronauts were facing the risks of constant exposure to ammonia in space stations. Both space stations and space suits have or will have a filter dedicated to removing trace ammonia from the air, to protect astronauts health and well-being. Current systems using activated carbon do not work well enough. That is why NASA awarded Serionix with funding to continue evaluation of our innovative technology.
Another application of Serionix filters is in a cleanroom where computer chips are made. Ammonia is also found in these labs and is a big challenge that activated carbon cannot remove well enough. This is where Serionix technology enhances well-being--it has better performance, and will let you know when its effective life is over, while leaving a small carbon footprint.
Serionix filters’ revolutionary technology not only reduces carbon footprints associated with filters, but it removes toxic chemicals and odorous gases from the air and changes color when it needs to be replaced.
